No. The phone in your pocket captures GPS lap timing, 100 Hz motion sensing for g-force, lean and slope, barometric elevation, HD video and audio, and one-tap live streaming. Hardware like a RaceBox or an OBD-II adapter adds channels on top — it never replaces the phone.

Pace times laps by GPS as you cross the start/finish line — no beacons, no transponders, no trackside hardware. Laps, sector splits where the track has sectors defined, and your records are computed automatically the moment the session lands.

Phone GPS delivers about one position fix per second, and Pace interpolates the exact line crossing between fixes — consistent enough to compare your own laps and measure real improvement session over session. For timing-grade precision, pair a RaceBox: Pace records its 25 Hz, sub-meter GPS natively.

Pace has pages for over 1,000 tracks. If yours isn't covered yet, or you're timing somewhere new, place the start/finish line yourself on a satellite map and Pace times against it from that session forward.

No. Recording is fully local — GPS doesn't need a data connection, and your session uploads when you're back on Wi-Fi or signal. Only live streaming needs a connection during the session.

Telemetry keeps logging in the background with the screen locked. Video and live streaming need the app in the foreground — mount the phone, start the session, and leave it alone until the checkered flag.

Rigidly, with the camera's view clear. Pace records forward video on the phone's ultra-wide lens, which has no optical image stabilizer — that's deliberate. Stabilizer hardware resonates under sustained chassis vibration and blurs footage; a fixed lens on a rigid mount stays sharp.

Recording video and streaming are demanding, like any camera app. Pace monitors the phone's thermal state during capture. For long race days, mount the phone out of direct sun and top up between sessions.

Every session replays with video synced frame-for-frame to the data: racing line on a satellite map, speed trace, g-force, lean and slope, lap against lap. You see the corner where you lifted early, the exit where the car wouldn't take throttle, and exactly how much each one cost — then you carry that into the setup and the next run.

Yes — and nothing else does this. Log the setup, attach it to the session, and every lap that session produces is tied to the configuration that ran it. Change gearing, pressures, or corner weights and compare sessions across setups: when a change buys you a tenth, you see it in the data, and when it doesn't, you know that too — no more guessing in the pits.

Yes. Laps, records, and telemetry accumulate on the driver, so progression is visible across the whole season — same track, different day, different setup, side by side.

RaceBox Mini, Mini S, and Micro, paired over Bluetooth. Pace records the RaceBox's 25 Hz, sub-meter GPS and high-rate motion data natively — your racing line, speed, and lap times at professional resolution.

On models with onboard memory (Mini S and Micro), Pace also records to the device itself and automatically backfills any Bluetooth gap after the session — a dropout never costs you laps.

Yes — the phone is the rig. Video, audio, the live broadcast, lean and slope, elevation, and the app itself all come from the phone. The RaceBox upgrades the GPS and motion channels; it doesn't replace anything.

Pace works with OBDLink adapters like the MX+, and with ELM327-compatible adapters. Plug in and Pace layers RPM, throttle, and coolant temperature onto the session — synced with GPS and video, live on the stream and in the replay.

No — OBD-II is for full-size cars with an OBD port (in the US, most cars from 1996 on). Karts and quarter midgets don't have one; on those, the phone and RaceBox channels carry the session.

Not today. Pace records its own capture from the phone, RaceBox, and OBD-II. Plenty of racers run a MyChron on the kart and Pace alongside it — they measure different things and don't conflict.

One tap when you start the session. Your stream carries live video with your speed and telemetry on the picture, and anyone with the link watches in a browser at racingpace.com.

Yes — Pace streams and records the front and driver-facing cameras together, picture-in-picture, so fans see the track and the driver in one shot.

Streaming live HD video uses meaningful data — budget for it like any live-video app. Recording without streaming uses no mobile data at all; the session uploads later on Wi-Fi.

Viewers see a branded reconnect slate while the stream recovers. Your recording and telemetry never stop — they're captured locally the whole time — so the full, gap-free session is there as a replay even if the live feed hiccuped.

It depends on your sanctioning body and event — check your rulebook and race director first. As one example, quarter midget national events ban in-car video entirely, local events typically allow a single recording device at the race director's discretion, and live transmission is prohibited. When in doubt, ask before you mount the phone.

GPS position and speed, motion at up to 100 Hz for g-force, lean and slope, barometric pressure and elevation, HD video and audio when enabled, weather conditions at the track, and RaceBox or OBD-II channels when paired. Every channel is time-aligned to the same clock — which is what makes frame-synced replay possible.

Yes. Every session has a visibility setting, and you can set your default so new sessions start private or public — your call.

Yes. Delete individual sessions anytime, or delete your account entirely from the app.

Accounts are for adults 18 and over. Parents and guardians create and manage the account, and add driver profiles for the kids who race — the driver gets the public page, the records, and the following; the adult holds the keys.

Streaming a minor runs through the parent or guardian's account, with the guardian's explicit consent to broadcast. Their session pages and following work like any driver's — the account control just stays with the adult.

Yes. The garage holds every driver and vehicle on your team — pick who's in the seat and what they're driving when you record, and each driver's records and pages stay their own.

This is rolling out now: sponsors get picture-in-picture logo placements on your live streams and replays — a real broadcast, in front of the audience your racing built. Racing runs on sponsorship at every level, from the local auto shop on a quarter midget to regional brands on a club car. Pace is where that sponsorship gets seen.
